I last photographed beautiful Merrin when her first baby Nate was a newborn back in 2014. I was thrilled when she contacted me again to document a new baby bump and we planned a Broome maternity session at the big boab tree here in Broome. In March Broome is hot and sweaty, but also lush with greenery so this location was perfect for an afternoon with return clients and their impending bundle.
The boab tree Merrin wanted to her session at is one of my favourite locations in Broome and I love it all the more as I had to originally hunt it down to find it. Years ago I saw photos of it and knew it was somewhere here in Broome. I used a little detective work and followed the direction of the light and used google satellite and a bit of running around and tracked it down - its super surprising where it is. I expect many Broome folk pass it often and don't actually realise that its one of my favourite locations. It really is in a location in town and its just the angle you photograph it from that makes it look like its in the middle of nowhere. If you're a Broome person looking for this tree the you understand when I say, go to 18 Degrees for a cocktail, while there on the outside deck look to your left towards the mangrove and you'll see my tree :)
